Assistant Computer Officer / Project Assistant
The appointee will be responsible for implementing an IT infrastructure to support knowledge transfer operations in the Research and Development Branch and the University's Library.
Duties
He/She will assist in establishing a scholarly publication repository system; development of web-based programs and APIs; and customization of open-source software and harvest metadata. The appointee will work in the Library to implement the system. Knowledge of institutional repository software, experience in implementing library systems running on Apache web server, MySQL data source; and skills of searching scholarly indexes and electronic resources are preferred.
Requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or related areas with strong programming skills in PHP, Perl, Java, and AJAX. He/She should be a good team player, proactive and be able to work independently. Appointee is expected to have sufficient relevant working experience. Those with less experience may be appointed as Project Assistant. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)
Salary
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
